The Support of the ministry
By Paul B Thomas
Scripture Reading: Psalm 96;8. Acts 20;35
Purpose: The support of the ministry
1.How can we honour God?
One of the Lord with the day the substance and with the first fruits of all thine increase (Proverbs 3:6)
2.What part of one’s income has the Lord claimed as his?
And all the tutor of the land.., is the Lord’s (Lev27:30).
3.Whose work does the Tythe support?
Behold I have given the children of Levi all the tenth in Israel for an inheritance for the service which they serve in the service of the tabernacle of the congregation (Numbers 18 verse 21).
4.How do preachers missionaries and evangelist support themselves?
Those that preach the gospel should live of the gospel (1 cor 9:11-14).
5.Who owns the gold?
For every beast of the forest is Mine, and the cattle upon a thousand hills. (Psalm 50;10).
6.Who gives man power to get wealth
But thou shalt remember the Lord thy God; for it is he that giveth thee power to get wealth
(Deut 8;18).
7. How does Jesus see tithing?
Ye pay the of mint and anise and cumin, and have omitted the weightier matters of law, judgement, mercy, and faith; these ye ought to have done, and not to leave the other undone (Matt 23;23).
8. God desires to Multiply Thee
And I make they covenant between me and thee, and will multiply thee exceedingly (Genesis 17;2)
9 You can Know the Blessings of Seed Faith
Give and it shall be given unto you, good measure, pressed down and shaken together and running over (Luke 6;38).
10.When you give, God will open the Windows of Heaven for you.
Bring ye all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be meat in mine house, and prove me now herewith, saith the Lord of hosts, if I will not open you the windows of heaven, and pour you out a blessing, that there shall not be room enough to receive it. (Malachi 9:10).
NOTES:
Some will criticise tything and say it is not for today. I see a higher law that is the law of seed faith. Sowing by faith is a greater act of Christian benevolence than tything. Just giving ten percent is not our duty, giving our ‘all’ is our duty. Nothing but our all is acceptable and our soul knows this.
Those who follow the Lord do not see tything as a debt they owe but rather they give as a seed they sow. They don’t give because they are obligated they give because they LOVE to INVEST in the coming harvest.
In the natural a financial investor will not only invest ten percent. He invests according to the potential of the return. The return is what interests the believer. He sees the value of the investment therefore there is no limit to the seed he desires to sows.
If I tythe I give out of an obligation. If however I sow seed then I am giving out of a love to give. I give because I see a harvest coming my way. IT’S SEED NOT MONEY THAT I GIVE.
The SEED that we SOW is not a debt that we owe! We support the kingdom and the church through our love care and faith and with financial seed as we are able. The support of the ministry is essential to maintain a thriving church, good preaching and the well-being of the flock. Progress cant be maintained unless the ministry is well financed. Preachers themselves should never beg for finances hence they should have a skilled team who can raise up the necessary funds to develop all projects and keep the minister in full time work. The team can build a strong partner base of supporters, donors and partners who keep the church in a healthy financial state.
Questions to Consider: Why should preachers be full time? Can a church be effective locally and nationally and globally with a part time pastor? What does scriptures tell us about muzzling an ox?
