Christ’s death was voluntary as he said of himself no man taketh away my life from me but i lay it down of myself I have power to lay it down and I have power to take it up again (John 10;18) this scripture proves his divinity only god has such power over death. His death was voluntary, he choose it. He declared it, he predicted it and prophesied it, he foretold of it and experienced it.First Christ died, AND WAS BURIEDNow we shall look at his burial. It was the universal custom of the Jews to bury their dead, It would be unreasonable to think he was not buried. all men are buried since all men die. and it is stated christ died and Christ died for our sins. Not only is his burial represented typically but it is also prophesied. The psalmist declared, “My flesh shall rest in hope for thou wilt not leave my soul in hell neither wilt thou suffer thine holy one to see corruption” (Psalm 16:9,10). “He was cut off from the land of the living and he made his grave with the wicked and with the rich in his death” (Isaiah 53:8). “Therefore will I divide him a portion with the great, and he shall divide the spoil with the strong; because he hath poured out his soul unto death: and he was numbered with the transgressors; and he bare the sin of many, and made intercession for the transgressors.” (Isaiah 53;12).Jesus, who as a man sentenced to death by the Romans had not the favour of the sepulchre but their bodies were exposed to the fowls of the air and the beasts of the field, Their body was heavily guarded, a centurion was set to watch over him (Matthew 27:54). Once assured that the accused one was dead, the centurion made a report to Pilate and then returned to watch over the body.It was the custom of the Jews that whoever suffered by their law should be buried that same day they knew the words of Moses who said, If a man hath committed a sin worthy of death and he be put to death and thou hang him on a tree, his body shall not remains all night upon the tree but thou shalt in any wise bury him that day Deuteronomy 21:22,23).He made his grave with the wicked. (Isaiah 53;8)The holy one making his grave with the wicked. The holy one becoming labelled as a “wicked” one. Himself making himself guilty of then crimes of humanity. Himself being made a curse for us all. The necessity of ones redemption, our salvation. without his intervention upon death, we ourselves would experience the full wrath of the almighty come the judgement day. But the fact remains “Christ died for our sins as saith the scriptures” (1 Corinthians 15;3).TBC
