#03 The Ministry of the Holy Ghost
By Paul B Thomas
Topic: The Ministry of the Holy Ghost
Scripture Reading:
Purpose: Christainity is not a religion Christainity is a walk with Christ. Christ who is the life seeks to give us an alternative life, by his holy spirit. We can like the saints of old walk with God and talk to God and live the god kind of life through following he life of Christ
1.The holy Ghost is Jesus with us
search the scriptures for in them ye think they have eternal life; and they
2.What do the believers receive?
But tarry in the city of Jerusalem until ye be endued with power from on high (Luke 24;49).
3.Why do believers Receive the power of the Holy Ghost
And said unto them, Thus it is written, and thus it behoved Christ to suffer, and to rise from the dead the third day: And that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in his name among all nations, beginning at Jerusalem.
4. A true believer is a witness?
And ye are witnesses of these things. And, behold, I send the promise of my Father upon you: but tarry ye in the city of Jerusalem, until ye be endued with power from on high. (Luke 24:46-49).
For as in Adam allude even so in Christ All men be made alive (1 Cor 15;22).
..As many of us as were baptised into Christ Jesus were baptised into his death therefore we are buried with him through baptism into death that just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father even so we also should walking newness of life for if we have been united in the likeness of his death certainly we also shall be in the likeness of his resurrection knowing this that the old man was crucified with him that the body of sin might be done away with that we should no longer be slaves to sin for he who has died is free from sin (Romans 6:3-7). 4. What divine ability did they receive? Ye shall baptised with Holy Ghost and with power (Acts 1:5). 5. Who are the disciples today? If you keep my commandments ye are my disciples indeed ( )
5.For what work does baptism prepare his disciples?
But ye shall receive power after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you and you shale witnesses into me both in Jerusalem and infall Judea and in Samaria and unto the uttermost parts of the earth (Acts 1:8).
6.The apostles preached with the power of the Holy Ghost under the power of the outpoured spirit.
And the word of God increased; and the number of the disciples multiplied in Jerusalem greatly; and a great company of the priests were obedient to the faith. (Acts 6:7).
Now when they heard this, they were pricked in their heart, and said unto Peter and to the rest of the apostles, Men and brethren, what shall we do? Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptised every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost. For the promise is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even as many as the Lord our God shall call. And with many other words did he testify and exhort, saying, Save yourselves from this untoward generation. Then they that gladly received his word were baptised: and the same day there were added unto them about three thousand souls. (Acts 2:37-41).
8.Did Peter’s word indicate another outpouring?
Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, when the times of refreshing shall come from the presence of the Lord (Acts 3:19).
7.The Gentiles Experienced an outpouring of the house of Cornelius.
While Peter yet spake these words, the Holy Ghost fell on all them which heard the word. And they of the circumcision which believed were astonished, as many as came with Peter, because that on the Gentiles also was poured out the gift of the Holy Ghost.(Acts 10:44-45). Notice this too was salvation coming to the Gentiles
8.The Ephesus outpouring
And it came to pass, that, while Apollos was at Corinth, Paul having passed through the upper coasts came to Ephesus: and finding certain disciples, He said unto them, Have ye received the Holy Ghost since ye believed? And they said unto him, We have not so much as heard whether there be any Holy Ghost. And he said unto them, Unto what then were ye baptized? And they said, Unto John’s baptism. Then said Paul, John verily baptized with the baptism of repentance, saying unto the people, that they should believe on him which should come after him, that is, on Christ Jesus. When they heard this, they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus. And when Paul had laid his hands upon them, the Holy Ghost came on them; and they spake with tongues, and prophesied.(Acts 19:1-6).
9.Who may receive the Baptism in the Holy Ghost ?
Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost. For the promise is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even as many as the Lord our God shall call.(Acts 2;38-39).
Again note the baptism as in salvation is for all. Baptism accompanies salvation as is never an isolated event (John 3:5).
10.How does one receive the Holy Ghost?
So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.(Romans 10:17).
11.Did Jesus promise great things that would accompany an outpouring?
Be glad then, ye children of Zion, and rejoice in the LORD your God: for he hath given you the former rain moderately, and he will cause to come down for you the rain, the former rain, and the latter rain in the first month. (Joel 2:23).
12.For what then should we pray?
Ask ye of the LORD rain in the time of the latter rain; so the LORD shall make bright clouds, and give them showers of rain, to every one grass in the field. (Zech 10:1).
