#06 The Miracles of Jesus
By Paul B Thomas

Topic: The Miracles of Jesus
Scripture Reading:
Hebrews 11;1
Purpose: To show that Jesus the miracle working God of yesterday still does miracles today

1.Jesus heals.
And said, If thou wilt diligently hearken to the voice of the LORD thy God, and wilt do that which is right in his sight, and wilt give ear to his commandments, and keep all his statutes, I will put none of these diseases upon thee, which I have brought upon the Egyptians: for I am the LORD that healeth thee.(Exodus 15;26)
2. Jesus heals all who were sick
And Jesus went about all Galilee, teaching in their synagogues, and preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing all manner of sickness and all manner of disease among the people. And his fame went throughout all Syria: and they brought unto him all sick people that were taken with divers diseases and torments, and those which were possessed with devils, and those which were lunatick, and those that had the palsy; and he healed them (Matthew 4;22-24).
3. Jesus uses mud to heal a man.
When he had thus spoken, he spat on the ground, and made clay of the spittle, and he anointed the eyes of the blind man with the clay, And said unto him, Go, wash in the pool of Siloam, (which is by interpretation, Sent.) He went his way therefore, and washed, and came seeing. (John 9;6,7)
4. Jesus was approved by God.
Ye men of Israel, hear these words; Jesus of Nazareth, a man approved of God among you by miracles and wonders and signs, which God did by him in the midst of you, as ye yourselves also know: (Acts 2;22). A workman must study to show himself approved (2 Tim 2;15).
5.Jesus raises the dead.
And when he thus had spoken, he cried with a loud voice, Lazarus, come forth. And he that was dead came forth, bound hand and foot with grave-clothes: and his face was bound about with a napkin. Jesus saith unto them, Loose him, and let him go. (John 11;43,44).
6.Miracles turned spectators into followers
And Jesus stood, and commanded him to be brought unto him: and when he was come near, he asked him, Saying, What wilt thou that I shall do unto thee? And he said, Lord, that I may receive my sight. And Jesus said unto him, Receive thy sight: thy faith hath saved thee. And immediately he received his sight, and followed him, glorifying God: and all the people, when they saw it, gave praise unto God.(Luke 18;40-43).
And a great multitude followed him, because they saw his miracles which he did on them that were diseased (John 6;2)
7. Miracles are the works of God
If I do not the works of my Father, believe me not. But if I do, though ye believe not me, believe the works: that ye may know, and believe, that the Father is in me, and I in him. (John 10;37,38).
8. To see Jesus perform miracles is to see God at Work.
Philip saith unto him, Lord, shew us the Father, and it sufficeth us. Jesus saith unto him, Have I been so long time with you, and yet hast thou not known me, Philip? he that hath seen me hath seen the Father; and how sayest thou then, Shew us the Father? Believest thou not that I am in the Father, and the Father in me? the words that I speak unto you I speak not of myself: but the Father that dwelleth in me, he doeth the works. Believe me that I am in the Father, and the Father in me: or else believe me for the very works’ sake. (John 14;1-11).
9. Does Jesus do miracles today?
Jesus Christ, the same yesterday today and forever. (Hebrews 13;8).
I am the lord thy God I change not (Malachi 3;6)/
10. What did Jesus promise the believer that he would do?
Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father. (John 14;12)

NOTES: Healing is the believers inheritance. Healing is wholeness and both come from the same word solo which means to be made whole.

Questions to Consider: What miracles took place in Acts by the hands of the apostles? If such miracles were performed after the death of Jesus then surely healing is God’s will for mankind today!
